Ernest Hansen and wife Mary created this sweet treat and opened a stand that still exists today. Mr. Hansen also developed the ice-shaving machine in 1933 that really enhanced the flavor. In 1936, grocer George Ortolano created the Sno-Wizard, which is now the most popular machine used throughout Louisiana.
